The Fenixloods I stands in the heart of Katendrecht, a Rotterdam district that has undergone a major metamorphosis in recent years. The warehouse, originally built as a San Franciscoloods and one of the largest in the world at the time, was heavily damaged in the Second World War but completely restored. Shortly after the war, a fire destroyed the middle part and since then there have been two separate warehouses, the Fenixloodsen. The name refers to the mythical bird that rises from its ashes.
During the redevelopment of Fenixloods I, between 2017 and 2019, the building’s ground and first floor were designed to house various tenants. It is now home to, amongst others, West 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, Tapas Bar 21 Pinchos, Codarts and Conny Janssen Danst.
